Congress sends show cause notice to Mumbai Congress Chief Sanjay Nirupam

The Congress high command has sent a show cause notice to Mumbai Congress Chief Sanjay Nirupam on the gaffe in the ‘Congress Darshan’ magazine. The Show Cause notice issued to Nirupam gives him seven days to respond to the notice.

Nirupam is facing the heat after the ‘Congress Darshan’ a magazine published by the Mumbai Congress printed an article which showed the Gandhi family in a bad light. In the November issue an article which was meant to be a tribute to Sardar Vallabhai Patel's death anniversary on November 15, states that there were a number of problems between Patel and Congressicon Jawaharlal Nehru. It blames Nehru for messing up on the issue of Jammu and Kashmir. The article toed the BJP line on the issue of Kashmir saying that if Patel’s view had been taken in to account then the Kashmir imbroglio would not have occurred. “ Nehru then was looking after the foreign affairs and had kept the Kashmir issue with him claiming it was an international issue. The problem that India is facing in Kashmir today would not have happened if Patel's views would have been considered then."says the article.

While Nirupam initially claimed that it was an inadvertent error and sacked a content Editor of the magazine, he later claimed it as a conspiracy. Nirupam’s rivals have alleged that another article in October also targeted the Gandhi’s. Sources in the Congress said that a number of factions in the Mumbai Congress want Nirupam to be shunted out of the party for the gaffe.
