Congress seeks to put a united front in Punjab

Congress sought to put a united figure of the party, with its leaders resolving to fight against the SAD-BJP regime in Punjab together.

CHANDIGARH: After a change of guard in the top order, the Congress today sought to put a united figure of the party, with its leaders resolving to fight against the SAD-BJP regime in Punjab together.

On the occasion of the installation ceremony of new state president Partap Singh Bajwa, Union Law Minister Ashwani Kumar called for putting up a "brave front" against SAD-BJP regime in the state, and asked party members to be united to face the challenges posed by the Akali regime in Punjab.

Besides Kumar, the event was attended by a number of party leaders including outgoing chief Amarinder Singh, Union Ministers Pavan Kumar Bansal, Manish Tewari, Preneet Kaur, and senior leaders Rajinder Kaur Bhattal and Ambika Soni.

Railway Minister Bansal, in his speech, said people of Punjab have lost faith in the SAD-BJP coalition and are now looking at the Congress as an option.

Congratulating Bajwa, I&B Minister Tewari said that if Congress remains united and continues to raise voice of people, it can defeat any party in any election.

Tewari asked the party leaders to work together for strengthening the party and keep internal differences aside.
