Congress seeks immediate removal of CVC KV Chowdary

New Delhi: The Congress on Sunday demanded immediate removal of Central Vigilance Commissioner (CVC) KV Chowdary, accusing him of acting as “a vigilant slave” of the government and “as an ambassador and agent” of Rakesh Asthana, the special director of the Central Bureau of Investment (CBI) who is known to enjoy the backing of the government to become the next CBI chief and who now faces an investigation in a case of alleged corruption.

Citing media reports saying the CVC had approached the then CBI chief Alok Verma for seeking a better annual appraisal report for Asthana and that it was on the basis of the controversial CVC report that the government pushed for the removal of Verma, Congress spokesman Abhishek Singhvi said: “We seek the removal, departure and exit of the collaborator for violating the Constitution, that is the CVC. He must go. It is clear the CVC is acting as ambassador for Asthana. He is functioning as the vigilant slave of the government, particularly the top two.”

Singhvi further said: “I can see the CVC is batting for Asthana. He has forgotten to be vigilant about the Constitution and the nation… Till now we had heard the CBI is a ‘caged parrot’, now we have a new vigilant slave of government who is acting as collaborator for violating the Constitution."Cong seeks immediate removal of cvc chowdary
