Congress says Rahul Gandhi stated facts, skirts CEC's proof demand
Following the CEC's reaction to Rahul Gandhi's 'fake voters' claim, the AICC defended Gandhi, stating his remarks were based on EC data. The party avoided committing to providing proof as demanded by the CEC. The Congress shifted focus to the EC's...

"As far as the CEC's threats to Rahul Gandhi are concerned, all that needs to be said is that the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha had simply stated facts revealed by the ECI's own data," said AICC spokesperson Jairam Ramesh in the Congress's official response.
He added, "Notably, the CEC answered none of the pointed questions raised by Rahul Gandhi meaningfully."
The AICC also appeared to signal a shift in focus-towards how the EC will implement SIR in Bihar following the Supreme Court's interim order directing the poll body to publicise the list of deleted names and to treat Aadhaar as ID proof for SIR.
"All that matters now is simply this: will the ECI implement, in letter and spirit, the Supreme Court's orders of August 14, 2025, on the Bihar SIR process? It is constitutionally bound to do so. The nation is waiting and watching," Ramesh said. Ramesh also took verbal potshots at the EC brass, dismissing their claim at a press conference that they made no distinction between the ruling party and the opposition.
Meanwhile, Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera responded to the CEC's assertion that even if a person is registered in multiple places, they can still cast only one vote.
