Congress releases tagline for Rahul-led bharat yatra

AICC on Tuesday released the tagline, 'Mile Kadam, Jude Watan' (walk together, unite nation), for the Congress Bharat Jodo yatra from Kanyakumari to Kashmir that Rahul Gandhi will lead from September 7, traversing over 3,500 km through 12 states and two Union Territories in about 150 days, with about 300 'yatris' walking together over three hours each every morning and evening.

As convenor of the yatra, Digvijaya Singh and party spokesman Jairam Ramesh unveiled the logo and tagline at Congress headquarters. Gandhi tweeted, "if you and I walk together, step by step, we can unite the nation. Let us come together and unite India." Gandhi is expected to visit the Rajiv Gandhi memorial at Sriperumbudur before starting the yatra from Kanyakumari.

"There will be 100 'padayatris' who will walk from start to finish. They will be 'Bharat Yatris'. Around 100 people will keep joining from states through which the yatra will not pass; these people will be 'Atithi Yatras'. Around 100 yatris will be involved from the states through which the journey will pass; these will be 'Pradesh Yatris'. At a time, there will be 300 padayatris...Rahul Gandhi is a big leader of the country and will be a 'Bharat Yatri' in the yatra," Singh said.


An acknowledged 'padayatri' who undertook a 6-month long 3,300 km Narmata Parikrama in 2018, Singh said, "we are proud that the Congress, which secured Independence for the country through a people's movement is now aiming to bring back social harmony and prevent the country from losing its character through a people's movement."
