NEW DELHI: With Shakti Sthal shut down following a bird flu scare, Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi led a march of party colleagues and supporters from the Congress headquarters to the Indira Gandhi Memorial Museum located at 1 Safdarjung Road to pay tributes on the 32nd death anniversary of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

Gandhi was flanked by senior Congress leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad, Anand Sharma, Kumari Selja, SK Shinde and followed by a group of other colleagues and supporters.

The march took place in the backdrop of the Centre organising various functions to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel which too falls on October 31. Gandhi tweeted his tributes to both former PM and former home minister.

“Remembering today my grandmother, the bravest woman I have ever known.

In life and in death she gave her all to the country. May her courage in adversity be our guiding light,” said Gandhi tweet about Indira Gandhi. In his tribute to Sardar Patel, Gandhi said, “My tribute today to Sardar Patel, a Congress stalwart, who strove for communal harmony and dedicated his life to the unity and progress of the nation.”
