Congress "only party of the common man": Delhi unit chief

"In Congress, nobody is greedy for power or post. "And then you have BJP, where people are trying to pull down each other," he said.

NEW DELHI: Delhi Congress today slammed BJP and AAP for making false claims related to the issue of development in order to woo voters even as it projected itself as being "the only party of the common man".

Speaking at a gathering of Congress workers at Dwarka, Delhi Congress President JP Agarwal said, "Those who are attacking us have nothing to offer... they don't have any figures to show.

"In Delhi, BJP has promised it will reduce the power tariff by 30 per cent. But have they been able to reduce the power tariff in Madhya Pradesh... They are making a promise they have never implemented anywhere," he added.

"In Congress, nobody is greedy for power or post. "And then you have BJP, where people are trying to pull down each other," he said.

"If there is any political party which is a friend of the common man, it is Congress, which has been continuously working for their welfare," Agarwal said.

Taking a dig at Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal, Agarwal said, "He has recently formed a party, but he sees nothing good in our efforts. He never praises anything."

Alleging that all Kejriwal had done was to point out failures and shortcomings, Agarwal said, "If you don't have any solutions, then don't point fingers."
