Congress never sought any alliance with BJD: Narasingha Mishra
Congress ridiculed Odisha CM's statement that BJD would not ally with Congress and said it was completely out of place and uncalled for.
"Congress has never sought an alliance with BJD in the past nor it desire to do so in future. Therefore, Patnaik's statement is nothing but due to fractions in his own party, which has disturbed his mental balance. He requires a political doctor for treatment," OPCC media cell chief Narasingha Mishra told reporters here.
Mishra alleged that the BJD supremo was "hand in glove" with the BJP and had met saffron stalwart L K Advani before leaving for Britain last month.
Claiming that Patnaik would meet his Waterloo in 2014 elections, the senior Congress leader said that BJD was "gradually crumbling."
"Patnaik is scared of his position and therefore merged four NCP MLAs in BJD by betraying the NCP," he claimed.
BJD vice-president and Health Minister Prasanna Acharya hit back at Mishra, saying "people giving such statements are themselves mentally imbalanced as they have been rejected several times by voters."
"There is no disturbance in the BJD and the party is united under the leadership of Naveen Patnaik," Acharya told reporters.
