Congress never coined 'Hindu terror' term, says Digvijaya

New Delhi: Countering the BJP's attack on the Congress after the acquittal of the accused in the 2008 Malegaon blast case, senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on Thursday said his party never coined the term "Hindu terror" as alleged by the ruling side. Maintaining that terrorism should not be associated with any religion and that no faith advocates violence, he said extremists are individuals who distort religion to spread hatred.

"Neither can a Hindu be a terrorist, nor a Muslim, Sikh or Christian. Every religion is an embodiment of love, goodwill, truth and non-violence. All religions are rooted in peace," Singh said. Responding to the BJP's allegation that he and others in the Congress had coined the term "Hindu terror", he said, "The BJP is absolutely wrong in saying that the term 'Hindu terror' was coined by the Congress."
