Sena has said the govt shouldn’t wait for the report of the State Backward Class Commission and instead grant reservation to the Marathas right away.
The Maratha reservation stir has put the BJP government led by Devendra Fadnavis in a very difficult situation in Maharashtra with most parties backing the demands of the agitating community.

On Monday, the Congress, NCP and Shiv Sena all held separate intraparty meetings where they supported the demand for Maratha reservation.

The Congress and the NCP delegations also met the Maharashtra Governor separately, requesting him to intervene and ensure that the Marathas get reservation.

The Shiv Sena, which is an ally of the BJP in both the state and the Centre, has said the government shouldn’t wait for the report of the State Backward Class Commission report (SBCC) and instead grant reservation to the Marathas right away. “We don’t need to wait for the SBCC report; the state should call for aspecial assembly session where the bill for Maratha reservation should be passed,” said Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray in a press conference.
