AMRAVATI (MAHARASHTRA): Congress and NCP today won 33 seats in the election to the 60-member Amravati Zilla Parishad.

Congress's Satish Uike and NCP-supported independent candidate Satish Hadole were elected as the chairman and the deputy chairman respectively.

Nomination of BJP's Jaikumar Patel, the outgoing deputy chairman, was declared invalid, ensuring Uike's unopposed election.

Hadole too was elected unopposed.
