Assembly Speaker Biman Banerjee rejected the question, following which all Congress MLAs in the House staged a walkout in protest.

KOLKATA: Congress MLAs today staged a walkout in the West Bengal Assembly to protest against the Speaker's decision of not to allow discussion on a recent gangrape incident.

Congress' Asit Mitra raised a question on the Ulberia gangrape incident which took place earlier this month.

Assembly Speaker Biman Banerjee rejected the question, following which all Congress MLAs in the House staged a walkout in protest.

"After the incident neither the chief minister went to meet the victims nor anyone from any government department," Mitra said.

Two women of a family in Ulberia area of Howrah district were allegedly gangraped by eight men.
