KOLKATA: Six Congress ministers will today hand over their resignations to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

"Our six ministers in the state government will submit their resignations to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at 5:00 PM," WBPCC president Pradip Bhattacharya told reporters emerging from a party meeting at Bidhan Bhavan here.

Bhattacharya said he along with some other party leaders will meet Governor M K Narayanan at 6:00 PM and inform him of the party's withdrawal of support to the Trinamool Congress- led government in the state.

The Congress' decision came close on the heels of six Union ministers belonging to Trinamool submitting their resignations to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh yesterday and giving letter of withdrawal of the party's support to the UPA-II government.

Congress' withdrawal of support in West Bengal will not affect the Mamata Banerjee-led government as Trinamool Congress alone has 185 MLAs in the 294-member assembly. Congress has 42 members.
