KOLKATA: Congress MLAs today boycotted the West Bengal Assembly session protesting "attacks on its councillors at Kharagpur by ruling Trinamool Congress workers."

The members sat on the foyer of the Assembly House instead of attending the session in the first half.

They started shouting slogans against the ruling party for the alleged atrocities on Congress councillors at Kharagpur, particularly before the formation of the board of the civic body of the area.

Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Md Sohrab told reporters that the party members would hold a meeting tomorrow to discuss the matter and then approach Speaker Biman Banerjee.

Yesterday, the CLP members wanted a discussion on the issue, which was refused by the Speaker and they subsequently staged a walk-out from the House.
