Veteran BJP leader BS Yediyurappa on Sunday cautioned his party colleagues agai- nst taking the Congress lightly, warning them that the opposition was making consistent efforts to woo some of the BJP MLAs.

The 78-year-old leader’s remarks echoed concerns within the party that some of the MLAs, who had deserted the Congress to prop up Yediyurappa, may ditch the BJP and do a ‘ghar wapsi’ ahead of the assembly polls. The former CM, speaking at the BJP state executive meeting at Davanagere, said he had information that Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee chief DK Shivakumar was in touch with some party MLAs.

BSY’s remarks in the presence of BJP national general secretary Arun Singh reflected the nervousness within the party as its two-year-old government was a product of 17 MLAs who joined the party after quitting the Congress and JDS.
