Congress livid over Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan's remark on dalit women
State Congress leaders have questioned the statement of Pinarayi Vijayan that he does not have anything to say about the arrest of the two dalit women in Kannur.

The chief minister had told the media to ask the police about the arrest. Reacting to this, former chief minister Oommen Chandy said Vijayan's statement is an insult to democracy. He said the people expect a reply from their elected chief minister, not from the police Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala said there is no need of the home minister if the police is going to give all answers. Vijayan handles the ho me portfolio in the LDF ministry. KPCC president VM Sudheeran said the CM's statement that he does not know anything about the incident is intriguing.
Two dalit women, Akhila and Anjana, were arrested and put in jail by the police based on complaints that they trespassed into a CPM office in Thalassery and attacked party workers. According to the two women, they did this as they were verbally abused by CPM workers.
Meanwhile, the matter took a serious turn as Anjana tried to commit suicide after she was released. The two sisters said they were upset by the comments about them made by a CPM woman worker to a TV channel.
