Congress leaders Shankarsinh Vaghela and Arjun Modhvaida end their fast

The leaders were on a fast to counter Modi's 3-day long fast under 'Sadbhavna Mission' for peace, unity and harmony in the state.

AHMEDABAD: Congress leaders Shankarsinh Vaghela and Arjun Modhvaida today ended their fast, which was a counter to the one observed by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

They ended their fast by consuming lemon juice offered by children.

The Congress leaders were on a fast to counter Modi's three-day long fast under ' Sadbhavna Mission' for peace, unity and harmony in the state. Modi broke his fast yesterday.

The Congress leaders, who dubbed Modi's fast as "five star" due to its air-conditioned ambience, observed their fast on a footpath in front of the Sabarmati Ashram.

Though the Congress fast was a lacklustre affair in comparison with that of Modi's, the Congress tried to remain afloat by this fast in their fight against Modi, as the state elections are scheduled to be held in December 2012.
