Congress leaders meets PM Narendra Modi; seek Shivraj Singh Chouhan's scalp

NEW DELHI: The Congress leadership has intensified its campaign for the sacking of MP CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan over the ‘Vyapam scam’. Five top Congress leaders – Digvijaya Singh, Kamal Nath, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Kapil Sibal and Vivek Thankha – submitted a joint memoradum to PM Narendra Modi, seeking fair probe by making Chouhan step aside.

Congress leaders have been seeking a CBI probe into allegations against Chouhan.They told Modi that their ‘independent verification’ with technical experts has certified as ‘original document’ the recent Excel-sheet submitted by Digvijaya Singh in an affidavit before the SIT, showing Chouhan sponsoring 48 candidates for jobs. Congress leaders alleged that the other Excelsheet submitted by the state was tampered with.

Pointing out that a police officer associated with the SIT had recently moved a court seeking protection, saying he was about to submit incriminating documents, the Congress leaders told the PM to ensure that the officer would submit the documents and that the CM would be made to step aside for a free probe. Asserting that the recruitment scam was deep-rooted in MP and its tentacles had spread to other states, the Congress leaders hope Modi would rise to the occasion and ensure a free probe into the scam by making Chouhan resign”.
