Congress leader Narayan Rane doesn't believe EVM machines were tampered with by BJP

Even as protests have broken out in Pune and Akola by activists from all political parties except the BJP claiming that the BJP had tampered the EVM machines, Congress leader Narayan Rane has said those who have defeated in the elections should accept their defeat and not blame it on the EVM’s being tampered.

"Some say that the elections were won (by the BJP) by using their government machinery and money, while some say that the EVM machines were tampered with. However a defeat is a defeat,you can’t give reasons after a defeat.”said Rane.

Rane was referring to protests by candidates of the Congress, NCP, and Shiv Sena who lost against the BJP in the recent civic polls coming out in a protest in Pune on Tuesday claiming that the BJP only won the elections because the EVM machines were tampered. According to these leaders the BJP in connivance with the Election Commission has tampered the EVM machine which has led to the BJP winning in so many seats. Demanding a probe and a re-poll the workers of the political parties took out a funeral of the EVM machines and then burnt it.

The protests also spread to Akola where the BJP emerged as the single largest party. Here again protestors carried out a mock funeral of the EVM machine.

Interestingly the leaders of the three political parties who have suffered a drubbing have largely remained silent on the issue of EVM tampering.
