Congress largest party in Meghalaya; BJP ally NDPP wins Nagaland

In Nagaland, BJP ally Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) wrested the lone Lok Sabha seat defeating NPF nominee by a huge margin of over 1.73 lakh votes.
GUWAHATI: The opposition Congress became the single largest party in Meghalaya after its candidate Miani D Shira won the bypoll from Ampati assembly seat by defeating National People’s Party’s C G Momin.

Congress had earlier stated that it will take call on staking claim to form government after seeing the outcome of Ampati.

Meanwhile, in Nagaland, BJP ally Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) wrested the lone Lok Sabha seat defeating NPF nominee by a huge margin of over 1.73 lakh votes. NDPP’s Tokheho Yepthomi defeated NPF’s C Apok Jamir.
