Manipur Congress issues whip to its MLAs to attend August 10 assembly session
Two Congress MLAs, K Meghachandra Singh and Th Lokeshwar Singh, have given a notice for moving a no confidence motion against N Biren Singh government for not handing over drug kingpin Lhukhosei Zou's case to CBI.

The whip instructed Congress MLAs to “to vote in line with the decision CLP leader O Ibobi Singh takes. Congress MLAs will unitedly vote in the House, spokesperson Ningombam Bupenda Meitei said. “However, as the party strongly believes in the Constitution of India, any act by any CLP member to dishonour the 3-line-whip will tantamount to attracting disqualification under the 10th Schedule to the Constitution,” he added.
The party had given notice for the no-trust motion to the Speaker last week. Nine MLAS supporting the ruling coalition had deserted the Biren Singh government recently. Three Manipur BJP MLAs joined Congress and four National People's Party MLAs, an independent MLA and Trinamool Congress MLA withdrew support to the BJP led government and expressed desire to support Congress. However, four NPP MLAs re-joined the government following the intervention of BJP’s central leadership. MPCC has issued a showcase to Wangkhei MLA Okram Henry and Sagolband MLA RK Imo Singh. Okram is nephew of Ibobi Singh, the legislature party leader. They were served notice for cross voting in the RS polls.
