Congress in state of panic due to BJP's growing popularity: Shivraj Singh Chouhan

GUNA (MP): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today said that the Congress is in a state of "panic" due to the growing popularity of the ruling BJP in the state.

"Congress is in a state of panic because of BJP's popularity in the state and since the polls are nearing, the party (BJP) is trying to show unity among its top leaders," Chouhan said.

He was addressing a meeting as part of his Jan Ashirwad Yatra in Guna, which is Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia's constituency. Earlier, Chouhan also addressed a rally in Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh's hometown Raghogarh.

Targetting Congress over corruption, Chouhan said, "It is an irony that whether Congress ruled at the Centre or in the state, it leads to rise in corruption only."

Highlighting the number of social welfare schemes initiated by his government, including the Ladli Laxmi Yojna, he said, "Now a man does not have to borrow money for the marriage of his daughter in the state."

The Chief Minister said, "During the erstwhile Congress rule till 2003, Madhya Pradesh was full of potholed roads, though the situation has changed now. However, the Centre was unable to repair the National Highways passing from the state."

Gwalior MP Yashodhararaje Scindia was present on the occasion besides other senior BJP leaders, including the party national vice-president Prabhat Jha.
