Congress holds protest on power and water crises, price rise

The protesters led by DPCC chief Arvinder Singh also shouted slogans against the BJP-led central government and also blocked traffic on the main roads of Ashok Vihar, causing traffic snarls for several hours.
Congressmen gathered near a Water Tank in Ashok Vihar at 9 AM and continued their protest till afternoon. Protesters also burned an effigy of the Prime Minister during the demonstration.
Slamming Union Power Minister Piyush Goel, Arvinder Singh alleged, "BJP has struck some deals with the power companies, and the deliberate power cuts in different parts of Delhi ranging up to 10 hours daily was an indication that plans were being hatched to hike the power tariff."

Police tried to pacify protesters, but they refused to budge. The protest was called off when senior police officials intervened.
Meanwhile, DPCC chief spokesperson Mukesh Sharma also slammed AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal and alleged that he was playing politics over the issue of guest teachers' stir.
Holding Kejriwal responsible for the unemployment of ten thousand guest teachers of government schools of Delhi, Sharma alleged, "During the 49-day rule of the Kejriwal Government, the foundation for the removal of these teachers had been laid. Congress party has decided to hold a major agitation in support of the guest teachers."
