Congress hits out at Modi for talks with Sartaj Aziz
NEW DELHI: Citing the presence of Pak Foreign Affairs Advisor Sartaj Aziz at the Heart of Asia conference, Congress asked whether the Modi government still swears by its dictum that “terror and talks should not go hand in hand with Pak.” The Opposition party asked the Centre and BJP whether Aziz was in Amritsar “for eating biryani.”

AICC spokesman Manish Tewari said: “Have they called Aziz to Amritsar to feed him Amritsari Kulcha or biryani?” Tewari’s reference to “biriyani” was an obvious reminder of how Narendra Modi, the then Gujarat CM, had criticised the previous Manmohan Singh regime for engaging with Pak despite terror attacks from across the border. “Heads of our soldiers are cut but then their prime minister is fed chicken biryani,” Modi had said in May 2013.
