Congress' Haryana in-charge meets state party MPs, MLAs
"Selja called me up thrice and she said she had some work in her ministry that is why she could not attend the meeting," he said.
On his first visit to the state after becoming the General Secretary, he met party MPs, MLAs and district and block-level office-bearers with a view to revitalising the Congress in Haryana.
Union Minister Selja, said to be a bete noire of Harayna Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, was conspicuous by her absence.
Among those present at the meeting were Hooda and HPCC head Phool Chand Mullana.
"I have come here for the first time and my first priority is to stregthen coordination among the party's office-bearers in the state.
"If there is any differnces among party leaders, then my job is to resolve them," he said.
"I met MLAs and MPs and party workers of the state. I will also meet them separately," the Congress leader said.
On the absence of Selja, Ahmed said the minister had informed him she could not attend the party meeting due to some work.
"Selja called me up thrice and she said she had some work in her ministry that is why she could not attend the meeting," he said.
To a query, Ahmed said Haryana Congress chief Phool Chand Mullana would continue on the same post.
"The party High command has given direction that Mullana will continue to hold the post," he said.
