Congress governments worked for all sections: Rahul Gandhi

MANIKA ( JHARKHAND): Congress leader Rahul Gandhi today said programmes like green revolution, MG-NREGA, RTI and women's reservation were the party's initiatives as the Congress believed in taking all sections of the society along with it.

"We brought green revolution, RTI and 50 per cent reservation for women? We believe in taking all the sections along with it," Gandhi said while addressing an election meeting at Manika in Latehar district in support of party candidate.

"The MG-NREGA was brought by the Congress, and is on the verge of closure now," Gandhi said, alleging the Narendra Modi government was trying to clip previous welfare programmes taken up by the previous regime.

Responding to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his effort to increase vitamin and iron content in banana for the benefit of the poor, Gandhi said fruits are for all and they are not for the rich or the poor.

Modi had yesterday said at Chandua in Latehar that he had talked to scientists in Australia on how to increase vitamin A and iron in banana.
