NEW DELHI: Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi announcing a policy for “start ups” on January 16, the AICC on Wednesday released its six-point suggestions for the government based on Rahul Gandhi’s interactions with some representatives of ‘start up’ sector.

The Congress suggestions were released by Jairam Ramesh who insisted before the NDA regime started focussing on ‘start ups’, during UPA regime between 2004 and 2014, India received $ 90 billion in venture capital and private equity financing for 4,000 companies, of which at least 2000 may well be start-ups.

Congress has suggested that government should back net neutrality, corporate social responsibility funds should be allowed to be invested in startup related R&D. Suggestions also include easing of patent registration, limiting government funding in startups to social sectors, leveraging National Skill Development Corporation leveraged to meet the huge semiskilled labour needs of startups.
