Congress, Ganashakti party may stitch alliance in Assam
The leaders of the Ganashakti had left for New Delhi where they will meet Congress Vice President, Rahul Gandhi to discuss seat sharing.

Senior congress leader Bharat Chandra Narah had detailed meeting with the leaders of the Ganashakti. The leaders of the Ganashakti had left for New Delhi where they will meet Congress Vice President, Rahul Gandhi to discuss seat sharing. Narah told ET, “We have discussion on alliance with Ganashakti. However, final decision in this regard will be taken by out central leaders."
Ganashakti has strong base among the Mishing community inhabited areas of Jorhat, Dhemaji, Lakhimpur.
A senior leader in Congress said, "Congress may leave the Majuli seat for Ganashakti.BJP's chief ministerial candidate and state president Sarbananda Sonowal is contesting from Majuli assembly seat."
The leader said that there might be friendly contest in couple of seats. "However nothing is decided on the seats yet. Official declaration in this regard is expected on Monday." In 2011 Assembly polls, Ganashakti had electoral understanding with the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP).
