Congress for code of conduct for party men in Assam

Guwahati: Riddled by dissension and groupism, congress in Assam now talks of code of conduct for party men.

Assam chief minister, Tarun Gogoi suggested that he will ask the Pradesh congress to come out with code of ethics or conduct which will determine as how much one party men should say outside the party forum.

Gogoi denied dissident activity in the party. However several congress leaders are seen attacking each other in public which has dented the image of party.

Gogoi dismissed the predictions that congress tally in Assam will come down to 5 seats from 7 of 2009.

Gogoi said exit polls have always been wrong in case of Assam.” In 2009 Lok sabha polls exit poll predications failed similarly during the 2011 assembly polls exit polls were wrong in case Assam.”

Gogoi said congress in Assam will get not less than 8 seats. “People have voted for us in past and there is no reason that this election they have not voted for us.”

The chief minister however hinted reshuffle in the state cabinet to give a fresh look to the government and suggested code of conduct for congressmen in Assam.

Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) to rubbished exit polls. Exit polls have predicated disastrous performance for AGP. AGP won one seat in 2009.

AGP president, Prafulla Kumar Mahanta said,” Exit polls are not real polls. Wait for May 16, things will be clear.”
