Congress falling between two stools, says senior party leader Kamal Nath
NEW DELHI: Even as the debate over Rahul Gandhi's decision to go on leave rages, senior Congress leader Kamal Nath plumped for his elevation as the party chief, arguing that Sonia Gandhi's continuing presence had resulted in dual centres of power, which was a source of confusion.

Nine-term MP Kamal Nath told Headlines Today that the Sonia-Rahul diarchy was not working. "When I go to Sonia with a problem, she says this must be taken to Rahul. When I go to Rahul, he says it's something which needs to be discussed with the Congress president. We are falling between two stools. I am saying give full command to Rahul. Give him his team. If he succeeds, success will be his. If he fails, the failure will be his," Nath said.

Nath added, "Rahul knows Congress has to change and he wants to do that."

Another senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh has also come out in favour of Rahul Gandhi accusing the party seniors of influencing Sonia Gandhi against the Congress vice-president.

The expressions in favour of Rahul from senior leaders from Madhya Pradesh are likely to influence the narrative within amid the murmurs over the Gandhi scion's sudden leave.
