Congress describes UNPA as a "misguided missile"
Congress on Wednesday described the UNPA as a "misguided missile" which does not know where it is heading.
"The UNPA is a misguided missile.. directionless. It is a vehicle incapable of taking any message anywhere," Congress spokesperson Jayanti Natarajan told reporters.
She was replying to the charges of UNPA that the UPA was directionless and was not tackling people's issues but was focussed only on the nuclear deal.
"The Lok Sabha has given a clear and unambiguous mandate in favour of the Prime Minister and his government. It has also given the mandate to the government to proceed forward on the Indo-US nuclear deal," Natarajan said.
On the new priorities of the Government, the Congress spokesperson said the issues concerning the common man - poverty, unemployment and the issues of farmers, would be the focus areas.
Refuting charges that the Congress engineered defections and indulged in horse trading to win the trust vote, she said, "This is absolutely baseless and the question of engineering defections did not arise. Some opposition members voted for the trust motion as they supported the nuclear deal," she said.
