Congress contemplates to boycott voting on confidence vote

Bangalore: Opposition Congress is contemplating to boycott voting process on the second motion of confidence to be moved by Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa in the Karnataka assembly today.

After the Congress Legislature Party meeting here, KPCC President R V Deshpande said: "We cannot disclose our strategy right now."

Congress MLAs will be holding another round of confabulation at Vidhana Soudha to decide on the steps the party should take during the trust vote, which Yeddyurappa is confident of sailing through.

Congress will be insisting on Speaker K G Bopaiah to allow a debate on the motion of confidence.

The Congress decision on participating in the proceedings depended on the decision to be taken by the Speaker whether to allow the debate or go ahead with the voting on the trust vote, sources said.

Congress Legislature Party leader Siddaramaih refused to share any details of the meeting to media.

Meanwhile, a senior Congress leader said there was a possibility of the party boycotting the voting.
