Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge questions fuel management of govt, says people made to suffer

New Delhi: Congress on Thursday questioned the efficacy of the Modi government's fuel management at a critical juncture. Party chief Mallikarjun Kharge said crude oil production has fallen for the 11th consecutive year, and gas production has also gone down, even as the government has stopped new LPG connections while Indian ships remain stranded at the Strait of Hormuz. A shortage of fertiliser is further adding to the situation, the party said.

"...Now, the Modi Govt has stopped any new LPG connections. After long queues, a 45-day wait for rural India to book a cylinder, black-marketing, the people bore the brunt of 'sab changa si' (all is well) denials!" Kharge said, referring to an ET report on the state of oil production.

"Indian farmers painfully suffer the consequences of BJP's apathy!" he said.
