NEW DELHI: Opening of champagne bottles, bursting of fire crackers and dancing to the beating of drums, this is how euphoric Congress workers today celebrated the consecutive third-time victory of the party in the Delhi assembly polls as BJP camps wore a deserted look.

High on jubilation, Congress workers started celebrations just after the trend showed signs of win of party candidates.

Hundreds of workers came by trucks from different parts of the city and gathered at the N P Middle School at Gole Market where counting of votes were conducted for New Delhi seat, contested by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit. They started beating drums and dancing much before the final results came.

When Dikshit went to collect her certificate from the Returning Officer at this counting centre, the workers opened champagne bottles as a mark of celebration.

"Today is a great occasion for all of us. The people have reposed trust on us," a worker, who came from Narela, said.

Giving slogans like 'BJP ka safaya ho geya', party workers also gathered in front of Dikshit's residence and distributed sweets among themselves.
