When reporters pointed out the "explosions" within the grand old party regarding the selection of candidates, the Congress stalwart said it was nothing compared to what had happened in the past, especially in the 2001 assembly polls, when three party members selected to contest from some seats withdrew at the last moment.
There were reports of Congress MPs K Sudhakaran and Adoor Prakash being discontent over not being given seats, but both leaders later said they were accepting the party decision.
There are also reports of discontent among some members of the grand old party for not being considered as candidates, with two of them leaving to join the BJP.
B S Anoop, who was the Congress candidate from Chirayinkeezhu in the 2021 Assembly polls, and KPCC working committee member R S Arun Raj joined the BJP on Friday.
