Congress booklet "trivialized" issues: BJP
NEW DELHI: BJP today hit back at Congress for dubbing it as a "U-turn sarkar" doing "somersault" on issues and alleged the opposition party is acting in panic and has "trivilized" issues in its booklet which is aimed at only creating some space in the media.

BJP also asked Congress to have patience for "wrongs" committed during its rule to be undone and suggested it to utilise the time for introspection about its future.

"There is nothing substantial in the booklet. They are trying to trivialize by quoting from here and there, reported and purported speeches. We have just come to government. Give us some time. Have some patience...Don't trivialize issues...

"Decades of Congress rule left India in a very bad shape. To expect miraculous changes in just six months would be unjust," Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said at a press conference.

He said though BJP respects the opposition which has every right to criticise the government, it should not criticise merely by trivializing issues but get media space for some good things.

"They have not learnt lessons from their (electoral) defeat. They are only trying to create some space in the media. They should get space for good things," he said.

Naidu, a senior BJP leader, said the opposition has every right to generate genuine public debate but the issues raised need to be of substantial public inportance.

The Minister said that after ten years of continuously being in office the party has been "overwhelmingly rejected" by the people of the country, who thought them not to be fit even for the role of opposition.

"They should seriously ponder on what went wrong. Should utilise this precious time, do some introspection and try to find out the reasons for this position and then make demands ...They tried to trivialize the black money issue. They tried to make fun of Jan Dhan scheme," he said.
