Congress blames NDA for inaction against black money

Slamming BJP for making black money a key issue, Congress on Tuesday reminded it how the NDA government failed to take any substantive action on black money.

NEW DELHI Slamming BJP for making black money a key issue in LK Advani's Jan Chetna Yatra, Congress on Tuesday reminded it how the NDA government failed to take any substantive action on black money.

Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari said that it was the Congress-led UPA government that had over the last seven years initiated resolute action to curb the menace of black money.

Listing the decisions, the ruling party pointed out that as many as 81 double-taxation avoidance agreements ( DTAA) were amended to facilitate exchange of information on black money parked in other countries. Besides, tax evasion agreements with four countries that are favoured destinations for parking illegal money were signed by the Manmohan Singh government.
