BANGALORE: Slogan shouting and verbal clashes between Nandan Nilekani and Ananth Kumar supporters resulted in Bangalore Political Action Committee calling off the first of its series of the candidate-voter meet in Bangalore on Saturday.

The signs of trouble were visible from the beginning itself when a section of BJP workers objected to Nilekani, the Congress candidate in Bangalore South, speaking in English, and urged him to speak in Kannada.

The trouble, however, continued with frequent interruptions and booing by the Congress and BJP supporters. JD(S) candidate Ruth Manorama and AAP’s Nina Nayak too were present at the event. As the disturbance continued, the AAP workers held a silent protest.
