Congress, BJP announce candidates in Arunachal Pradesh

ITANAGAR: Congress and BJP in Arunachal Pradesh today announced their respective candidates for bye-election to Liromoba Constituency in West Siang district, slated for polls on February 13.

While the ruling Congress has nominated first-timer Nyamar Karbak, opposition BJP picked up Bai Gadi as its official candidate.

Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President Padi Richo informed that Karbak was chosen as the official candidate for the by-poll keeping in view his popularity among the masses.

First-timer Karbak is presently holding the post of president Arunachal Pradesh Youth Congress.

"Out of three candidates central election committee of the party has decided to field Bai Gadi as our candidate," BJP state president Tai Tagak said.

The bye-election was necessitated following the death of former Chief Minister Jarbom Gamlin on November 30 last year.
