Congress has demanded an explanation from the Narendra Modi government as to why violence is still continuing in Manipur even after Union home minister Amit Shah visited the crisis-torn state and made an appeal to various sections to maintain 15 days of peace. Congress has now demanded that the PM himself visit Manipur and wondered why he has been silent on the volatile situation there.

"Two weeks since the Union home minister went to Manipur on a three-day visit and announced a series of measures, the state continues to burn.... There is cross-firing in multiple districts. NH-2 and NH-37 are still blocked with a serious crisis of non-availability of essential commodities. The number of displaced people is more than one lakh with at least 50,000 people in 349 relief camps. The official death toll is more than 100....Why has the Union home minister's appeal for 15 days of peace on May 30, 2023, completely failed," asked a statement issued by AICC general secretaries Jairam Ramesh, Mukul Wasnik and AICC in-charge of Manipur Bhakta Charan Das at a press meet here on Monday.
