New Delhi: Kerala's ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) and opposition United Democratic Front (UDF), both members of the INDIA bloc, on Monday joined hands to pass a resolution unanimously in the legislative assembly against the Election Commission of India (ECI)-proposed special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the state ahead of the upcoming local body and assembly elections.

The pro-SIR BJP and its allies have no presence in the Kerala assembly.

Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who moved the resolution, referred to the political row in Bihar over the ECI exercise and said the proposed SIR in Kerala was motivated, lacking in transparency and part of a bid for backdoor implementation of the contentious National Register of Citizens.
