In Tripura assembly Congress and CPI-M MLAs displayed placards protesting the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi from Lok Sabha.

Congress MLA Gopal Chandra Roy attended the house in black attire as a mark of protest against the disqualification of Gandhi from Parliament.

Tripura Pradesh Congress President Birajit Sinha said “Rahul Gandhi's voice was suppressed by the BJP government and he was not allowed to speak in the Lok Sabha unethically before being disqualified. The people of this country would not accept the murder of the democracy in India.”

In Manipur also Congress workers staged a protest. Rahul was disqualified from Lok Sabha on Friday after a court in Surat pronounced him guilty of criminal defamation for a remark he made ahead of the 2019 general elections about the Modi surname.

He had equated Modi surname with fugitives. Gujarat lawmaker Purnesh Modi filed a case against Gandhi in Surat, saying the opposition leader had insulted all members of the Modi community.
