Congress allowed illegal immigration in Assam: Amit Shah
Amit Shah alleged that Congress allowed illegal immigrants from Bangladesh for ‘vote bank politics,’ and illegal immigrants have posed a threat to national security.

Addressing a workers’ rally in Upper Assam’s Dibrugarh on Friday, Shah said, "Congress left the international border unattended. Illegal immigrants from Bangladesh enter India, who not only took away jobs of locals but posed security threat to the nation."
Justifying the land swap deal with Bangladesh, Shah said it would enable the country to secure the border by fencing the international border. The land swap deal is likely to become poll issue in the state.
"Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi is talking to All India United Democratic Front for an alliance. How can a party that talks to AIUDF check the illegal immigrants from Bangladesh," Shah asked.
He challenged Gogoi to discus with the AIUDF in open than ‘sitting inside a room.’ Gogoi had proposed a grand understanding of anti-BJP parties for the 2016 assembly elections.
"Assam requires a patriotic government and one which can stop infiltration," he said.
