Congress has alleged that the 12 years of the Narendra Modi government were marked by growing unemployment, economic woes and inflation, rising fuel charges, and crises in the MSMEs and education sectors. Releasing a document, 'promise vs reality', on the second anniversary of the third NDA government, Rajeev Gowda and Amitabh Dubey of Congress slammed the government for slashing the number of LPG cylinders to Ujjwala beneficiaries from 9 to 4.

They said while Modi had claimed India would become the world's third largest economy and reach a $5 trillion economy by 2024, in reality the economy has fallen below $4 trillion and India has slipped as the sixth largest economy, pointing out that foreign investors are withdrawing from Indian markets.
