GREATER NOIDA: Congress activists today protested against new Land Acquisition Bill at Jaawal chowk here, saying the Union government must listen to the voice of farmers.

Congress activists along with farmers of Bhatta-Parsaul village and nearby places gathered at Jaawal chowk in Jewar area and chanted slogans against the Narendra Modi government.

The activists, led by UPPCC spokesperson Dhirendra Singh, also burnt an effigy of the Prime Minister along with copies of Ordinance on Land Acquisition Act 2013.

"The government must listen to the voice of farmers which form 65 per cent of the total population," said Singh, adding that such protests will continue until ordinance on Land Acquisition Act 2013 is taken back by the government.

Later, the agitators submitted a memorandum on problems concerning the farmers to the district officials.
