Congress accuses Dhami govt of giving prime Uttarakhand land, George Everest Estate to private parties

New Delhi: Congress on Wednesday accused the BJP government in poll-bound Uttarakhand of handing over several prime government land parcels and heritage sites, including George Everest Estate, to private parties at significantly low prices.

AICC general secretary in-charge Kumari Selja alleged chief minister PS Dhami had approved decisions in this regard and said the opposition party has launched an agitation in the state and will approach the governor.

Selja said at the party briefing in the national capital that in November 2022, a Chintan Shivir in Uttarakhand decided that decisions related to land rights under various departments would be handled by the Uttarakhand Investment and Infrastructure Development Board, in which Dhami would be able to hand over land to anyone with a single signature.

"Corruption is rampant... Across the entire state, there have been such dealings at 40 places, where Dhami handed over land to private individuals at throwaway prices," she said.
