Congress accuses BJP of double standards on talks with Pakistan
NEW DELHI: As the BJP upped the ante on the issue of talks with Pakistan, Congress today asked the opposition party as to why dialogue continued even after Kandhar plane hijack incident and Kargil war during its rule.

"What kind of action do you want? When our plane was hijacked in Kandhar, terrorists were freed during the NDA regime, talks with Pakistan were not suspended even after Kargil war.

"Why this double standards, the dichotomy between the speech and deed of the BJP? Why not the principal opposition party gives an option on what should be done?" party spokesperson Meem Afzal said.

He was responding to questions on BJP chief Rajnath Singh's remarks yesterday that "talks and terror" cannot go hand in hand and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should not hold parleys with Pakistan till it stops terror activities emanating from its soil against India.
