Chidambaram further tweeted: “Contrary to what the PM said, it is undeniable that the status quo was changed by Chinese troops in April-June 2020. People are watching if the Modi government will succeed in restoring the status quo ante.”
New Delhi: Congress demanded on Thursday that PM Modi speak up on reports which claimed that Chinese troops have resumed construction at the very place in Ladakh’s Galwan Valley where 20 Indian soldiers were brutally killed in a hand-to-hand clash on the night of June 15.

The party referred to reports, based on satellite images, saying that Chinese troops have “even come in and started erecting tents” on the Indian territory at new points such as PP 14 in Pangong Tso Lake area from Finger 4-8.

Senior leader P Chidambaram said in a post Twitter: “Foreign ministry and PLA of China once again assert their claim to the entire Galwan Valley and demand that India should vacate the valley. Extraordinary demand! Will BJP-led NDA government once again reassert India’s claim and demand that “status quo ante” must be restored?”

Chidambaram further tweeted: “Contrary to what the PM said, it is undeniable that the status quo was changed by Chinese troops in April-June 2020. People are watching if the Modi government will succeed in restoring the status quo ante.”
Cong to PM: Speak up on Fresh Chinese Aggression
Citing satellites images, Congress spokesmen Randeep Surjewala and Pawan Khera said at a joint press conference that the Modi government has been repeatedly telling the country that it is talking to its counterparts in China to ensure that there is status quo ante as on April 2020 in Galwan Valley, Pangong Tso Lake and Hot Springs.

“However, all newspaper reports, quotes by former Army generals, satellite images, etc., suggest that the Chinese have made several incursions… Has the Chinese Army also come into the eastern Ladakh sector — Depsang sector, Daulat Beg Oldi Road with armoured vehicles? Has the PM and Modi government taken notice of these fresh incursions? The nation wants to know,” they said in a statement.
