GUNTUR: A Congress leader in Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday suspected "foul play" in the September 2 helicopter crash in which the then chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy was killed.

A Ram Babu, state general secretary of the party, said some mafia gang might have targetted his chopper when it was flying over the Nallamala forest.

He asked the state government to include the "sabotage" angle in the enquiry, but stopped short of elaborating on the "foul play".

Babu is part of the campaign for elevating YSR's son Jagan Mohan Reddy as the chief minister.
