Confusion prevails over exact number of blasts

Two hours after a series of high-intensity blasts rocked the Western suburban train services this evening, confusion prevailed over the exact number of blasts occured.

MUMBAI: Was it six, seven or perhaps even eight? Two hours after a series of high-intensity blasts rocked the Western suburban train services this evening, confusion prevailed over the exact number of blasts occured, with different officials giving out varying figures.

While Mumbai Police Commissioner A N Roy put the figure at seven, state Director General of Police P S Pasricha said he had knowledge of only six blasts.

Railway control room sources said they too had knowledge of six blasts, but city police control sources said it was seven blasts, which resulted in the death of more than 100 persons.

A TV channel put the blasts' number at eight, but this information was not confirmed by any authorities.
